BASIL
As one of the easiest plants to grow indoors, it is perfect for beginners! All you need is a sunny room, a pot, and plenty of rich soil. Basil seeds take only about 8 to 14 days to germinate. Harvesting is easy as well, simply trim off the tips of the stem, or pluck off individual leaves and add them to your salad, pasta, or stir-fried meat dishes!
Care Instructions
Step 1: Get starter pots with drainage holes.
Step 2: Mix the dry soil with water until it's moist enough to hold together in your hand.
Step 3: Fill your pot to about 1/2 to 1 inch below the top with moistened soil.
Step 4: Plant a few seeds in each cell. Just in case some don't sprout!
Step 5: Cover the seeds with a sprinkling of soil.
Step 6: Mist your seeds with water. If any seeds are exposed, gently push them back into the soil.
Step 7: Place a dome over your pot to keep the moisture in. You do not need to water until they start to sprout.
Step 8: Once they start to sprout, remove the dome.
Step 9: Water your seedlings about twice a week, and water from the bottom.
Step 10: Basil loves the warm sun, place them along your corridor, or supplement with LED lights if growing indoors.
Step 11: Start pruning when they have 3 sets of true leaves. You can add these to your meal!
Step 12: Start harvesting when they have 6 sets of true leaves, and spice up your meal!
